The attractive architecture of the SANTANTAO ART HOTEL is integrated naturally into the rough volcano landscape. Majestic mountain ranges and bizarre rock formations build a breathtaking backdrop.

The facility, which is built to feature only 2 floors, disposes of a bounteous entrance way and welcome area, that is covered by a wooden pagoda ceiling. The elegant lobby makes for a comfortable spot to spend time in.

In both this and in the immediately bordering cosy American bar, the walls are decorated with pictures and artwork done by Cape Verdean painters. The shady bar patio offers a view of the garden area designed with subtropical plants which is then overshadowed by the view of the seemingly endless Atlantic ocean.

The elegant hotel restaurant features space for 150 guests. The kitchen ranges from international specialties to typical local cuisine. A large, modern conference chamber possesses 100 seats as well as a small break-out room and is perfect for small meetings and events. Special attention must be given to the gorgeous swimming pool with its wind-protected quiet area and its dreamy pool bar. For those who are still in search of a little movement after a long day of hiking through the mountainous terrain of Santo Antão, the early evening offers a shade-filled tennis court.

Beginning in autumn of 2008, the SANTANTAO ART RESORT will be adding a second restaurant featuring specialties and a panorama patio as well as an elegant disco for night time enjoyment. Also planned is a redesigning of the cove for swimming purposes, which will feature white sand in the future.
